PLZ promotes 'Bridge Mile' connecting fulfillment and last mile in urban areas Boldnine expands 'seller-centric fulfillment service' overseas ![]() At the "Seminar for Innovation and Growth in National Land and Transport R&D," held on the 17th of last month as a side event of the "2024 National Land and Transport Technology Fair," PLZ introduced its plan for ¡°establishing urban hubs to advance the last mile,¡± and Boldnine presented its ¡°seller-centric fulfillment service.¡± As online retail sales surpassed offline sales last year, demand for same-day delivery is increasing. Same-day delivery is only possible with the support of both fulfillment and last mile logistics. However, most fulfillment centers are still located on the outskirts of cities, making access to city centers poor. PLZ CEO Park Soon-ho stated, ¡°The average navigation distance between fulfillment centers and urban areas is 48 km, which is too far for executing city deliveries,¡± and added, ¡°In the future, the platform companies that solve this connection will lead the urban logistics industry.¡± In response, PLZ announced that it is promoting the ¡°Bridge Mile Service,¡± which connects already-established fulfillment and last mile services based on urban-type hubs, to maximize urban logistics efficiency. In other words, logistics hubs will be established in cities to create contact points between fulfillment and last mile. However, instead of investing in new logistics hubs, PLZ will utilize already-existing gas stations and parking lots. Currently, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is using a GS Caltex gas station in Naegok-dong, Gangnam as a micro fulfillment center (MFC), and a logistics hub using a public parking lot is being constructed in Gimcheon. CEO Park Soon-ho said, ¡°PLZ will operate the logistics at both of these sites,¡± and added, ¡°Based on our experience in operating urban logistics hubs and the know-how we have accumulated in same-day delivery with two- and four-wheeled vehicles, we expect to take a leading role in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport¡¯s future expansion of urban logistics hubs.¡± Boldnine provides fulfillment services based on its independently developed information system, EasyStorage, allowing customers to focus solely on product development and marketing without worrying about logistics issues. EasyStorage is composed of a warehouse management system (WMS) and order management system (OMS), supporting operations such as order processing, inbound/outbound logistics, inventory management, delivery, and customer service. It allows users to check various order statuses and collect orders even in mobile environments, and it is optimized for e-commerce, serving various clients including large corporations and small- to medium-sized e-commerce sellers. Additionally, Boldnine handles a wide variety of products—including ambient, refrigerated, and frozen goods—through a logistics network totaling 32,000 pyeong (approximately 105,600 square meters) in Cheongna, Paju, Icheon, and Gimpo. Recently, the company has also expanded its logistics services overseas. In the overseas logistics sector, the "Japanese e-commerce platform order integration" system provides comprehensive support from volume data to customs broker submission and carrier transmission, minimizing lead time and helping increase product exposure rankings for sellers. Boldnine CEO Park Yong-seok said, ¡°Based on our fulfillment technology capabilities, we will further strengthen our global competitiveness so that our clients can sell their products anywhere in the world, including Japan, Southeast Asia, and the U.S. via express delivery.¡± <Copyright ¨Ï Monthly Logistics Magazine (www.ulogistics.co.kr) All rights reserved> |
