Robotic delivery service 'Bring' commercialized Distribution, routing, and demand forecasting technology to 'chuck' complex orders at once 2024/05 Kakao Mobility announced that it is launching a robot delivery service, BRING, and its own robot open API platform, BRING-ON, to commercialize robot delivery services. BRING is a product that combines LG Electronics' AI autonomous delivery robot, LG Chloe Subbot (double-door type), and Kakao Mobility's robot open API platform, BRING-ON, and can perform various services that customers need on-site, such as ¡ã food and beverage delivery ¡ã mail delivery in the office ¡ã concierge service in the hotel, with one robot. Through platform control, it can be deployed and operated in existing buildings that are not designed for robots, such as offices, hotels, apartments, and hospitals. Kakao Mobility and LG Electronics will be introducing Bring to Nudit Seoul Forest in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, to provide robot delivery services. The delivery robot was confirmed to be able to handle even complex orders, such as picking up mail from a mailbox on the second floor of the basement, receiving drinks from the cafeteria on the fifth floor of Sangga-dong, descending to the third floor, changing elevators in the office building, and delivering to each employee in offices on the sixth through 11th floors. LG Electronics provides the AI Chloe robot and a control solution that monitors the delivery status and robot status, and Kakao Mobility operates its own robot delivery service after linking it. The double-door LG Chloe subbot can load up to 30 kilograms of items in its four double-door drawers. The spacious interior, which can hold up to 32 cups of regular-sized coffee (about 350 ml), is equipped with antibacterial materials and a ventilation fan for deodorization. The six wheels are equipped with independent suspension (shock absorbers), allowing the robot to move stably through building spaces even when loaded with drinks. Kakao Mobility developed Bringon, a robot open API platform optimized for robot delivery. Based on the open API, Bringon can connect various delivery orders and robots, and has the versatility to configure the service according to the customer's environment without being limited by the type of delivery service or robot model. Bringon incorporates Kakao Mobility's accumulated mobility technologies such as AI-optimized dispatching, demand forecasting, and routing. This makes it possible to classify complex delivery orders on the platform and optimally assign them to each robot to maximize delivery efficiency while minimizing human intervention. The two companies have been collaborating on technology to commercialize AI robot delivery services since signing a business agreement to innovate future mobility services in 2022. ¡°Bring, which incorporates Kakao Mobility's platform technology, is characterized by scalability that can be connected to any service and any robot,¡± said Jang Jang-wook, head of Kakao Mobility's Future Research Institute. As LG Electronics has accumulated solution know-how in various spaces such as airports, hotels, hospitals, and warehouses through its robotics business over the years, the company plans to build a total solution for the entire distribution stage, including not only the supply of robots but also the last-mile delivery of ordered goods to end consumers. <Copyright ¨Ï Monthly Logistics Magazine (www.ulogistics.co.kr) All rights reserved>
